It' s been a long time since I played a battle. My entire free time is currently devoted to painting my new Vampire Counts army. I've almost forgotten how much fun it is to play WFB. Thus, my Bretonnia confronted an army of Hordes of Chaos, who invaded the lands inhabited by followers devoted to the Lady of the Lake.

The battle was played on 2400 pts with the possibility of taking Special Characters. We played on 6th ed. with the addition of home rules. (link to the rules)

During the Deployment Phase I drew the side with the hill where Field Trebuchet was placed, guarded by a Pegasus Knights and Grail Knights units. The Winds of Magic were on the Bretonnian side that day. My 2x Damsel of the Lady wielding Life Magic drew offensive spells: Master of Stone, Master of the Wood and Father of the Thorn, which helped the Bretonnian forces a lot.

I couldn`t afford not to play Tristan the Troubadour and Jules the Jester. Naturally, Sir Tristan joined his brothers in arms - the unit of Questing Knights. Jules the Jester, on the other hand, was kept on the sidelines due to his unfortunate incident at the Battle of Castle Reunart, where Sir Laudyricus of Couronne was unhorsed and nearly impaled on a hobby horse.

Lord Berengier the Hawkfriend landed at the back of the Man-at-Arms unit raising their morale as a general and making sure they would fight bravely against the Chaos forces.

Jules the Jester ready to hurl abuse and taunts at enemies 6 inches away from him. I really wanted to test out his "I will taunt you viciously a second time" rule, which makes an enemy in close combat have a -1 to hit modifier

On the other hand, Tristan warms up before singing his Valourous Ballads, which in 3 ways can aid in battles, such as giving +1 combat resolution point to a fight he is in, as well as bestowing Magic Resistance (2) or providing Stubborn for the whole unit.

Exalted Chaos Champion with the Mark of Tzeentch surrounded by Horrors is already scheming how to defeat the Bretonnian forces and corner them from the flank with the help of the Chaos Knights unit.

The first turn is over. Chaos Furies are waiting in the back to find a suitable moment and swoop in to attack Field Trebuchet's crew.

Lord Berengier guarding the right flank of the Bretonnian forces saw through Exalted Champion of Tzeentch's plan. During the Magic phase, the Master of Stone spell killed three Chaos Knights who wanted to sneak in from the flank and encircle the Bretonnian troops.

Sadly, I misjudged the distance and exposed myself to the charge of the Chaos Knights, who with St5 sowed death among the infantry ranks. Meanwhile, the high score on the roll on the Spawn of Chaos move caused it to engage in combat with the Knights of the Realm lance with Paladin BSB.

Despite the unexpected charge of the slow Beast of Nurgle, who threw a surprising double six for his Special move, the Knights of the Realm passed the Fear test and bravely faced the Chaos creature.

Not playing often resulted in the fact that this was not the only situation of misjudged distance. The same thing happened with Dragon Ogres, who impetuously charged the Questing Knights unit. Fortunately, the Lady of the Lake saved one of them from death. In response, the knights inflicted 3 wounds and won that fight, while forcing the Dragon Ogres to flee.

The overconfident Chaos hero underestimated the Bretonnian lord's skills. Consequently, the follower of Chaos lost his life.

After seeing the chance to tip the victory to the side of Bretonnia, Sir Tristan gave a bold order to charge the general of the Chaos forces - Daemon Prince. Despite sowing terror, the Questing Knights unit did not succumb to weakness and faced the enemy with a song on their lips.

Meanwhile, the Grail Knights faced the Chaos Knights with courage, and after winning the combat, the victors began to break through into the enemy's back.

After defeating the Beast of Nurgle, the Knights of the Realm charged the Chaos Knights. Unfortunately, poor to hits rolls did not allow them to defeat their opponent. The combat ended in a draw.

After winning the battle against Daemon Prince, the Questing Knights escaped a flanking charge from the Bloodletters of Khorne, which would certainly not have survived. They rallied in the next turn to attack the Daemons of Khorne with full impact. Unfortunately, they were eventually tired of fighting and were killed, and Sir Tristan was the only one to escape the battlefield to write a song about it.

The machine's crew bravely defended against the attacks of the last daemons on the battlefield.

Regardless of the victory, the Bretonnian lord displayed arrogance typical for the aristocracy.
